How can we help?

Auto-translation for custom questions

NeetoCal allows you to automatically translate your booking form’s custom questions into every supported language. With auto-translation enabled, the system keeps your form fully multilingual, ensuring a consistent experience for clients across regions.

This article explains how the auto-translation feature works, what gets translated, and what you should know before enabling it.

What auto-translation does

When auto-translate is enabled for a question, NeetoCal automatically translates all translatable elements of that question into all supported languages:

  • Question label

  • Placeholder text

  • Options (for dropdown, multiple-choice, feedback questions)

  • First name and last name fields (in split mode)

NeetoCal treats the entire question as a single translation unit.
This means everything related to that question gets translated together every time when you check-marked autom translation option.

What gets translated (every time you save)

Regardless of whether you changed anything or not, NeetoCal will:

1. Translate the question label

The main title of the question is translated into all languages.

2. Translate all placeholders

Whether it’s a single placeholder or split placeholders (first name, last name), they are all translated.

3. Translate every option

For questions with options, multiple-choice, dropdown, rating/feedback, every option is translated into all languages.

4. Regenerate translations in all languages

Every translation for that question is regenerated fresh each time.

Manual translations are overridden

If you manually edited translations in other languages, enabling auto-translate will replace those manual edits.

For example:

  • You edited the French translation of a question

  • Later you enable auto-translate

  • NeetoCal will generate a new French translation and overwrite your manual text

This ensures:

  • All languages stay consistent

  • Updates to the question text reflect correctly everywhere

  • You do not have mismatched or outdated translations across languages

If you want to preserve your manual translations, keep auto-translate disabled.

When is translation triggered

When you check-mark "Auto-translate question into other language" in the question setting.

How NeetoCal interprets “Question-level auto-translate”

Auto-translate applies to all translatable elements linked to that question, not just the label.

This means:

  • A simple text question → label + placeholder

  • A dropdown question → label + all options

  • A name question (split mode) → first name + placeholder + last name + placeholder

  • A feedback question → question + predefined option sets

You do not need separate settings for each field. NeetoCal automatically detects all translatable fields and translates them together.
